Pulling glass pipettes for the Nanoject

Use the Narishige PC-100 in the patch room:

Make sure to use the Drummond 3.5" #3-000-203-G/X glass capillary tube, and not a patch capillary tube:

Insert the glass capillary into the PC-100 with ~1-2cm protruding from the top. The capillary should go through the metal heating element. Secure with the top thumb screw to hold the capillary in place:

Lift the weighted bottom piece up and clamp it onto the glass capillary with the thumb screw:

Push the "Step 1" button - we're doing a 1 step pull:

Close the cover and hit the red "Start" button - the heating element will heat up:

Once the weight drops and pulls the pipette, cut the thin glass in the middle to separate the two parts:

The bottom piece is the good pipette. The top piece will be curved and unusable so put it in the sharps:

Place the good pipette in a dish with clay to secure it and make more!
