Calculation of effective temperatures and temperature summation

  • For a specfic vegetation period and phase, the corresponding phenological observations and daily temperatures are coupled.
  • A vegetation period of summer crops only considers the year of interest. In contrast, a vegetation period of winter crops starts in the previous year on the DOY of sowing.
  • Before the actual temperature summation, plant-specific base temperatures are substracted, negative temperatures are deleted and the remaining temperature values are weighted by a day length factor.

Shape file of phase-specific daily temperatures and temperature sums

  • GRID_ID -> raster cell ID related to WEATHER_GRID_EPSG31467.shp
  • LON -> Longitude (EPSG 4326)
  • LAT -> Latitude (EPSG 4326)
  • STATION -> ID of a phenological observation station
  • YEAR -> year of observation
  • PHASE -> DWD phase ID
  • PLANT -> DWD crop type ID
  • DATE -> date of a beginning phenological phase
  • DOY -> day of the year of a beginning phenological phase
  • DOY_start -> starting DOY, from which temperature sums are calculated
  • T[1:365] -> daily temperatures [°C x 10] of the year of harvest
  • T[-X:-1] -> only for winter crops: daily temperatures [°C x 10] of the year of sowing (-X=DOY-365) beginning with the DOY of sowing
  • T_SUMS -> phase- and station-specific temperature sums
