Coupling of year- and phase-specific observations and corresponding phenological stations

  • A shape file of all available phenological stations is related to year- and phase-specific observations (output from function fImportPhenObs).
  • During the coupling operation, the actual observed phase-specific days of the year (DOY) and the corresponding starting DOYs are determined.
  • There are two options to determin starting DOYs (column "DOY_start"):
    • Summer crops -> DOY_start = 1
    • Winter crops -> for spring and summer phases of the current year -> DOY_start corresponds to the starting DOY of phase 10 observed in previous year

Parameters

  • PHENO.OBS -> Phenological observations resulting from function "fImportPhenObs()"
  • IN.DIR -> directory with phenological stations' file
  • PHENO.STATIONS -> ESRI shape file of all phenological stations
  • PHASE -> DWD phase ID
  • PLANT -> DWD crop type ID
  • YEAR -> year of observation
  • start.Phase=10 -> determining the starting phase
  • start.Day=1 -> determining the starting DOY
  • OL.RM -> removal of observation outliers using the interquartile range (IQR) criterion is TRUE or FALSE (default = TRUE)

Output

Spatial point object containing year and phase-specific phenological observations:

  • STATION -> ID of a phenological observation station
  • ID -> object ID
  • X -> X coordinate (EPSG 31467)
  • Y -> Y coordniate (EPSG 31467)
  • GRID_ID -> IDs of grid cell polygone shape file
  • QL -> DWD quality level
  • YEAR -> year of observation
  • PLANT -> DWD plant code
  • PHASE -> DWD phase code
  • DATE -> date of a beginning phenological phase
  • QF -> quality flag
  • DOY -> day of the year of a beginning phenological phase
  • DOY_start -> starting DOY, from which temperature sums are calculated
