Scientists are precise people, therefore it should be of no surprise that it is useful to expectations and roles spelled out at the start of a mentoring relationship. University of Wisconsin has some great resources to get started.
No one person can or should be everything to someone else. The mentoring mapping workshop is an exercise to help students (or anyone) identify their resources from within their network for various types of support.
