Hello 👋🏾, it's Shakira. I had dreams of this being short but I got carried away, enjoy.

Meeting with Alex

Alex(as our coach 🤣) met up with us this morning to get sense of where we were with the project and how we're all feeling about learning to use a framework. It was quite brief because we'd met with them the day before to ask about getting a new task. They left us with a task to complete as individuals:

"Think about what aspects of learning something new have been useful to you and what you'll carry forward into learning other new things"

They asked us to dm our responses. For me it's going to be making sure I check the code before adding to it and checking the documentation before searching online...I could have avoided a few hours scouring the web if this had been done sooner 🙈 I'm looking forward to hear what my teammates have learned, I'm sure they'll all have something valuable to carry through.

The official meeting part was brief and Alex offered to help us with any problems we have. Tom then asked them to help us debug our GitHub authentication issue. We didn't solve it but they sent us in the right direction by suggesting we look at the terminal.

Stand-up

The standup was this morning was quick, I think the fastest we've had.

  • I briefed Lilly and Boris on the meeting with Alex and the task we were set.

  • Tom walked us through the progress we'd made with the GitHub authentication since meeting with Alex 30 minutes earlier( we're almost there, damn good progress in the time!).

  • We decided to remain in our teams from the day before. Tom, Boris and Jordan decided to work on getting the user id of the currently signed in user as a foreign key in the post table and maybe continue work on the GitHub authentication. Ifrah, Lilly and I decided to work on the post and navbar CSS.

Retro

We briefed each other on how our group work went for the day:

  • Ifrah, Lilly and I did some more work on the posts CSS and we started making the navbar! Both are almost done and we're being a bit blocked by needing to upload and display pictures. We spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to use active storage and implement it but by the end of the day we had to rollback to a previous commit...shoutout to Ifrah for pushing earlier in the day which made pushing only the files we wanted super easy!!!

  • Tom, Boris and Jordan had a pretty good day of work as they completed a pretty big part of our MVP, adding user id to posts. It wasn't exactly s foreign key in the posts table but it was a really clever solution, they added a column to the table called user_id and assigned the value to the id of the currently signed in user!

  • We discussed tasks for tomorrow and added some new ones to our trello board.

  • We decided to start at 10:30am tomorrow.

  • Jordan "did the thing" with Siri and he was assigned Scrum master duties and Ifrah will be our scribe.
