Mission

The main motivation for the FloripaSat project development is primarily to educate students in space technologies and space system engineering. This motivation has several impacts:

  • Complements the knowledge acquired in the classroom
  • Generates technical expertise for those involved
  • Capacitates the students for teamwork and leadership
  • Stimulates the Brazilian Space Program

Mission Objectives

There are four mission objectives listed below.

Mission Objective 1

The team shall design, build, integrate and test a satellite. The success criterion is: to deliver a functional satellite to the company responsible for the qualification tests and launching.

Mission Objective 2

The cubesat shall communicate with the ground station. The success criterion is: establish a radio connection with the developed ground system and transmit telemetry.

Mission Objective 3

The team shall develop the core modules used in the mission. The success criterion is: evaluate the functionality of the following modules in space:

  • Onboard Computer module
  • Energy Harvesting/Storage module
  • Communication module

Mission Objective 4

The cubesat shall operate a scientific or technology demonstration payload. The success criterion is: receive data from the payloads and relevant data from core modules.
