Note

Don't skim these. They're the most essential part of contributing.

All communities need guidelines for behavior to keep them safe and welcoming. Here are ours:

💬 Be communicative

Our success depends on talking to each other in shared spaces and responding when someone needs help or information. This means:

  • Responding with "I don't know" or "I can't do this after all" instead of ghosting
  • Commenting on GitHub issues or pull request when you have an update
  • Writing in appropriate Discord channel for anything else
  • Avoiding communicating or creating content on other platforms, which fragments our communication

🤗 Be caring

It is essential that everyone in the community lead with love. That can mean:

  • Affirming help seeking
  • Encouraging and supporting learning
  • Supporting someone who is struggling
  • Teach someone who needs help learning
  • Congratulating someone on their accomplishments
  • Respecting each others' identities and preventing bullying

📚 Be curious

Making software requires learning. This can mean:

  • Finding others to learn with
  • Getting help from others who know a bit more
  • Being vulnerable enough to ask for help when you're stuck

🙋🏻 Be critical

This project only improves if you report things that aren't working. This can mean:

  • Reporting things that seem confusing or broken
  • Finding accessibility and language problems that might prevent use or contribution
  • Doing work that strives for excellence

🌎 Be you

Diversity is our community's greatest asset. That can me:

  • Be your authentic self
  • Have pride in the unique perspectives that you bring to this community
  • Creating things yourself, rather than delegating them to generative AI, which is the voice of others
