You may find the German version here.
Peter Schönbucher and Niklaus Giger want to offer using www.elexis.ch and free (as in freedom) software a cost efficient computing infrastructure for (Swiss) general practitioners.
Typical setup is:
- OC (Elexis-OperationCenter) is responsible for infrastructure & setup
- Firewall is either managed by the practitioner or the OC (pcengine.ch/ipfire)
-
Server (GNU/Debian-Linux) based managed by th OC. Somewhere in the medical cabinet
- HW: Any x86 server should do the jobs, may be virtualized, e.g. Archivista.ch
- Optional: HW redundancy, may be hot sync for PostgreSQL
- SW: Database-Server PostgreSQL
- Optional: x2goserver based on KDE/Gnome
- Optional: Gollum-Wiki (using textile markup as in Elexis) or whatever the practitioner is wishing and willing to pay. Should include some structure structure to lead a beginner. Using gollum allows us to use different syntaxes (mediawiki, textile, creole, but not pmwiki) and gives us via git an automatic backup/history.
- Optional: USB-FAXmodem
- Optional: USB-Modem Telefon automatic answering (e.g. vbox.pl)
- Backup: eSata/NAS (at least 2 pieces regulary swapped in a safe place, e.g. a safe in a Swiss bank
- Optional: Linux/MacOSX/Win?? PC with full elexis installation, or somehwere in the cloud, e.g. using amanda
- Optional: ThinClient (inside cabinet or via internet) using x2go
Tools used are (among a lot of others):
- simple-cdd (Custom Debian Distribution)
- puppet
- gollum
