• I think http://rangevoting.org/TarrIrvSumm.html is out of date. The Australian House is certainly two-party dominated, but there are several others in the list: http://results.aec.gov.au/20499/Website/HouseDefault-20499.htm Smith seems to not be counting "independents" as "third party", also, which seems dishonest to me. I don't know how to plot the same graph for the Senate, but Wikipedia has diagrams showing that the third parties have more proportional support in the STV PR Senate than they get in the IRV House.

• Score Runoff Voting uses the overall value expression (scores) of the voters to determine the top two before using the voters' Ranked Choices in the runoff. This means you can give full support to your true favorite - if she makes it into the runoff, she is by definition a strong candidate,

  • I think a good way to phrase this is that the winners of the first round are "the two candidates with the highest approval rating".

I think "highest total score" is clearer than "highest approval rating" (note that 'approval' in polling generally just is percentage of respondents who say they approve). I phrases like "highest overall approval" is nice to use in some contexts, not as sure if it's as clear as should be for explaining the exact concept of SRV.
