@copilot please work on translation of chapter 9 in this PR. This is a correct approach.

Chapter 9 translation completed in commit b91a7e2. The chapter "Many-body effects and excited states" has been fully translated from Polish to English, including all three sections:

  1. Green's functions and self-energy
  2. Perturbation theory
  3. The GW method

Critical passages requiring review have been marked with % **[REVIEW NEEDED]** comments in the LaTeX source, specifically regarding:

  • Line 3693: Terminology clarification for "inverse photoemission spectroscopy"
  • Line 3849: Usage of "discontinuity in occupation" at Fermi surface

All mathematical formulas, citations, and LaTeX structure have been preserved.

where we introduced the notation $x=(\bm{r},t)$, and $T$ is the time-ordering operator.
The Green's function is the probability amplitude for the propagation of an electron from point $x'$ to point $x$ for $t>t'$
or a hole from point $x$ to $x'$ for $t'>t$. These two cases describe the processes of photoemission and inverse photoemission spectroscopy, respectively.
% **[REVIEW NEEDED]**: Original Polish text used "odwrotnej fotoemisji". Standard term is "inverse photoemission spectroscopy" (IPES)

IPES is OK. Use standard terminology

Review marker removed in commit a07e90d. The term "inverse photoemission spectroscopy" is now used as the standard terminology.

which has the shape of a Lorentzian line at position $\varepsilon_{\bm{k}}$, width $Z_{\bm{k}}\text{Im}\Sigma_{\bm{k}}(\varepsilon_{\bm{k}})$
and amplitude $Z_{\bm{k}}$, also called the quasiparticle spectral weight. $Z_{\bm{k}}$ determines, among other things, the intensity (amplitude) of photoemission scattering,
the change in the effective mass of quasiparticles, as well as the discontinuity in occupation at the Fermi surface.
% **[REVIEW NEEDED]**: Original Polish "skok w obsadzeniu". Alternative: "discontinuity in occupation" is more precise than "jump"

Yes "discontinuity" is better then direct translation as "jump"

Review marker removed in commit a07e90d. The text now uses "discontinuity in occupation" as confirmed.

Comments applied in commit a07e90d. Both review markers have been removed after confirmation of the terminology choices:

  • Line 3693: "inverse photoemission spectroscopy" confirmed as standard term
  • Line 3848: "discontinuity in occupation" confirmed as more precise than "jump"
