Holly Bik - Holly is a computational biologist and researcher in marine genomics at the University of California, Davis Genome Center. Her work utilizes high-throughput sequencing approaches to explore broad patterns in microbial eukaryote assemblages (biodiversity and biogeography, functional roles for microbial taxa, and the relationship between species and environmental parameters), with an emphasis on benthic marine habitats. Holly is also active in social media (@hollybik) and science communication, contributing to the Deep-sea News marine science blog since 2010.
Wesley Grubbs - Wes founded Pitch Interactive, with over 19 years of experience in the interactive industry. Wes is in charge of technical and creative direction and managing all crucial aspects that define the project scope, client expectations, deliverables and story telling. He holds a Master’s degree in Information Systems and a Bachelor’s degree in International Economics from the University of Arkansas. Built upon his life experiences, education and his innate interest in the brain and cognition, Wes' work focuses on revealing patterns about human behavior and how our actions impact our surroundings.
Shujian Bu - Shujian works as the software engineer at Pitch. She graduated from Columbia University, with a dual MS degree in Journalism and Computer Science. Prior to joining Pitch, she interned at The Wall Street Journal on several data journalism projects. She is also a 2013-2014 Magic Grantee of Stanford University's Brown Institute for Media Innovation. She also has a BS in Electrical Engineering.
Pitch Interactive - data visualization studio based in Berkeley, CA. Pitch Interactive's work spans illustrations, physical installations, projections, console game user interfaces, software applications, websites and textiles. Their work has been showcased at the MoMA's TalkToMe exhibit in in New York, La Penacée's "Conversations Électriques" in Montpellier, the McKnight Foundation's 30 year anniversary exhibit, the Foosaner Art Museum's "The Art of Networks" exhibit, The Max Planck Science Express Train, the Data Flow books and many other internationally acclaimed publications.
