Welcome to the BrowserCord documentation. BrowserCord bridges the gap between your web activity and Discord Rich Presence.

You can find all files in the Releases Tab.

  • Browser Extension (.zip): Required for all users. Compatible with Chrome, Brave, Edge, and Firefox.
  • Windows Server (.exe): The main application for Windows 10/11 users.
  • Legacy Linux Server (.deb): Available for version 1.x.x only. Read more about Linux support.

🔄 Stay Updated

The Windows server includes an Auto-Update Checker. When a new version is released, you will receive a notification. To update manually, simply download the latest release and run the executable.


🛠️ How to Install

Follow these steps to get BrowserCord running in under 2 minutes.

Step 1: Install the Server (Desktop App)

The server is the "brain" that talks to Discord.

  1. Download the latest BrowserCord-Setup.exe from the Releases.
  2. Run the installer. If Windows prompts you with a "SmartScreen" warning, click More Info > Run Anyway.
  3. Ensure the app is running in your system tray (bottom right corner of your taskbar).

Step 2: Install the Browser Extension

For firefox, you can install it from the addons store at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/browsercord

For Chrome/Edge/Brave:

  1. Download the BrowserCord-Extension.zip.
  2. Install the extension:
  • Go to chrome://extensions.
  • Enable Developer Mode (top right toggle).
  • Drag and drop the .zip file into the window, or click Load Unpacked and select the folder.

Step 3: Start using

  1. Make sure discord is opened in your desktop.
  2. Click the BrowserCord icon in your browser toolbar and click "Check connection".
  3. If the status says "Connected," you are ready!
  4. Navigate to a supported site (like YouTube or Twitch), and your Discord status will update automatically.
