Backport from firedrake/fiat/trimmed serendipity branch
(Needs corresponding ufl and ffc changes as well)
Hmm. I think this requires more extensive changes.
Update: Primary problem appears in fiatinterface.py in the form compiler. tsfc only has a finatinterface.py these days. tsfc/fiatinterface.py (serendipity branch) and ffc/fiatinterface.py have become quite different.
