The weather affects nearly everyone, every day. There are a number of weather websites but often times these sites are clogged with unneeded information and ads. Our goal would be to create a sleeker website that would give people immediate information on the weather in their area and the forecast for the day. The audience of this site would be everyday people commuting to work or school. For an API, https://openweathermap.org/api provides all the information we would need in JSON or XML formats.
Increased participation in Fantasy football and more recently the rise of sports betting has led to more and more people researching sport's stats. A dedicated stats website would be a great tool for dedicated sports watchers and fantasy players. This kind of site would be a one-stop shop for all the player statistics, matchup graphs, and team comparisons. The NFL dedicated API Shield, https://api.nfl.com/docs/getting-started/index.html#shield, would be the source of all the needed data and has an extensive guide on retrieving the JSON data.
With the national legalisation of marijuana, and the opening of thousands of dispenseries worldwide, users may be intimidated or scared of either the side affects of some strains or may just want to learn more about the now legal substance. Our website will provide users with marijuana strain explanations, as well as the affects of the strains. The API will be from http://strains.evanbusse.com/, this will allow us to explore strains, embed, query etc on our own website. The queries are capped at 3600 per hour. We may also use the Yelp API which may allow users to explore legal dispensaries in their area: https://www.yelp.com/developers/documentation/v3
