v0.8.1 - 🦀 Fake wilds are dead 🦀

Haven't done much actual work on this in a while so might as well not keep everyone waiting:

  • - Use Steamodded/smods#672 to explain spectra so we can get rid of the fake wild suit. Goodbye, fake wilds.

Minimum Steamodded version is now BETA-0530b. This was, as the name might indicate, released nearly a month ago, so you really should be fine if you don't have a super weird build that obligates you to use an outdated version. (Why would you have that? Don't have that.)

v0.8.0 - wild

Hey remember when I said "prerelease for a few days so people can find bugs" and then three weeks passed? Yeah we're just gonna jump to the next version. lol

  • +Cryptid cross-mod: A triple-hand planet for advanced Spectra. Regular Spectrum is left out, poor baby. I don't know what to do about this, there were four of them and the pattern was three.
  • +Specflush hand: If you wanna go absolutely nuts with Wild cards and/or increased selection size, there are now hands for that. The relevant config option is off by default, because it's not finished (we still have to make the planets).
  • ~Spectrum Framework now overrides Bunco's stuff if both mods are active. But if you preferred the Bunco planets and/or Jokers, you can use the config option for that. That's one of the reasons we implemented it.

SMODS did another release today, so next update will be targeting that and using one or more of its features. Please look forward to it.

v0.7.0-pre Pre-release
Pre-release

Preview to make sure nothing's broken. Minimum Steamodded version is now BETA-0321b - which is older than the current release, but if you just keep ancient versions lying around for some reason, be wary. New features:

  • Added an option to swap the joker and/or planet design between CupertinoEffect's contributed art, my original very silly doodles, or the art from Six Suits or Bunco.
    • Six Suits jokers and Bunco planets are currently tentatively credited to Aure and Firch respectively, but I haven't been able to positively confirm this to my satisfaction. If anyone can, that would be appreciated.
  • Fake wilds now have a UI icon, in case you get them in your deck somehow. I believe this was Oinite's creation.
  • Added an option to show the mod's trace-level console messages. You probably don't need this unless you're developing another mod and something is going fucky.
  • Adjusted how the base Spectrum part is calculated in an attempt to account for multi-suit cards. I'm still not 100% on the really weird cases. UnStable enjoyers, see if you can break it.
  • Copied a bit from Cryptid to make Spectrum Five become Spectrum Six and so on, if your other mod(s) give[s] increased play size. Not coincidentally, playing with Cryptid is the most likely scenario to need that bit anyway...
  • Override Bunco's Spectrum hands if both mods are installed. Relatedly, added a patch if Bunco is active to enable exotics regardless of which exact Spectrum hand is detected. (The patch won't be needed anymore if/when jumbocarrot0/Bunco#9 gets accepted, but y'know, until then. Another reason this is a prerelease :p )
    • ... Oh yeah, Bunco is no longer a conflict.
  • Smeared Joker's unlock condition should still look right with the option enabled.

Full Changelog: v0.6.0...v0.7.0-pre

With Steamodded having added a function to just put card modifiers into hand hints directly, I'm looking forward to developing the patch that lets me delete fake wilds once and for all. They're really annoying to deal with~

v0.6.0 - Smeared Joker, bugfix, bettercalc

  • Removed Six Suits as a conflict, as they now resolve the redundancy on their end.
  • Little update to make sure it works with Better Calc. Pretty sure it still works with old calc too, but if you find it doesn't, consider downgrading to 0.5.0.
  • Smeared Joker can now make all modded suits count as the same suit.
  • Added a config option for this.
  • Also fixed a bug we hadn't noticed where you couldn't score a Spectrum if you didn't have any modded suits (tl;dr we put some code in the wrong order). This probably won't matter to most people since the point of Spectrum Framework is to use alongside modded suits, but you don't have to so y'know. :p

v0.5.0 - Art!

11 Jan 20:00

Choose a tag to compare

CupertinoEffect has contributed art for the jokers and planets (#1), which is now implemented instead of my silly placeholder doodles.

Also, easy (low) Spectrum hand scores now only starts the base Spectrum off as visible. Theoretically they could all be doable with the most basic "add one or more custom suits" deck, but it clutters up the run info screen pretty bad, so we're testing this way out for now.

v0.4.0c - Well now I feel silly for saying I couldn't do it

I figured out a way to make Smeared Joker not produce false spectra just because modded suits exist, I think.

v0.4.0b

Smeared Joker has interacted weirdly with custom suits since the beginning. I kinda-sorta fixed it, except that it doesn't account for custom suits. Which. Given the purpose of this mod. Is less than ideal.

You can fix it on your end with relative ease (example from the silly little mod) but I don't like requiring that. But I haven't worked out an elegant way to handle it on this end yet.

It at least shouldn't be a problem with Spectrum Framework by itself anymore, which is an improvement.

... Also, fake wilds now act like real wilds if you get them somehow. (They're still not intended to be accessible through legit gameplay, but if it happens anyway, they may as well play the way you expect them to.) You don't have to account for this in your mod if you don't feel like it.

v0.4.0

Jokers!
Also, the function to count starting suits, which I was very sure I already put in??? This vexes me.
Also also, text goes to localization file in case anyone wants to localize this.
Also also also since SMODS fixed the weird thing with conflicts, mods that fully implement the Spectrum already are now listed as conflicts. You don't need two Spectrums :p

v0.3.0

An official release. You can use it if you want to. Or you can keep downloading the latest commit.

There's not really meant to be much to this mod. We'll do another release if we ever figure out how to make the suit counting function actually work with Cryptid enhanced decks (it thinks they are all standard 52-card decks because they apply their forced enhancement after it counts them). Or if we update the planet art. Or if we actually add those jokers. ... Okay there's a couple of things we'll update for I guess.
