This is a very small fix... For the if condition that checks mpi_pool. Probably the code was shuffled at some point.

Hm I think I misunderstood the code so will close the PR!

The error that I get is the following, with mpi_pool=True and npool=4:
ValueError: Tried to create an MPI pool, but there was only one MPI process available. Need at least two.

The problem was that I had not set the number of processes in mpirun
