Single Player Mode
The Computer Player (Darkness) has rudimentary memory - whenever any battle happens, the it learns the ranks of both pieces involved. Early in the game, the Darkness army is playing blind and cautiously. As battles occur, the it stores information about what pieces are where. By late game, the Darkness army will know most of your pieces and play more strategically, so try to win quickly!
There's currently only one difficulty level - no easy/medium/hard settings. The Darkness Army is competent and strategic but designed to be beatable with good planning. To keep the game interesting, there are various achievements you can unlock as well as a scoring system. There is also a speed running community.
When you defeat the Darkness Army in single player mode, your final score is calculated based on your performance. Your score has three main components:
Base Score: 1,000 points
Speed Bonus: Up to 500 points
The faster you win, the more points you earn:
- Formula: (100 - turns taken) × 10, capped at 500
- Win in 20 turns = 500 points (maximum bonus!)
- Win in 50 turns = 500 points
- Win in 70 turns = 300 points
- Win in 95 turns = 50 points
Survival Bonus: 25 points per piece
Every piece you keep alive adds to your score:
- 30 pieces surviving = 750 points
- 20 pieces surviving = 500 points
- 10 pieces surviving = 250 points
You can earn special achievements that add bonus points to your score. Multiple achievements can be earned in a single game, and once unlocked, they're yours forever!
Christened Kingdom - +500 points
Eliminate more than 25 enemy pieces in a single game. Show no mercy!
Celestial Speed - +300 points
Achieve victory in under 30 turns. Speed is key!
Radiant Redemption - +200 points
Win while losing fewer than 10 pieces. Keep your army intact!
Infiltrator Inception - +300 points
Capture the enemy lord with your Infiltrator. You must also win the game for the achievment to activate.
Cracked Crystal - +200 points
Win by capturing the enemy Crystal. Go straight for their weak point!
Your highest score, fastest win, and unlocked achievements are all saved and displayed in the statistics screen. Good luck, and may you banish the Darkness with grace.
