🚀 Getting Started

Prerequisites

• Node.js 18+: For running the Next.js frontend
• Python 3.8+: For the Flask backend
• Git: For cloning the repository

Installation

1. Clone the repository

   git clone https://github.com/vkondi/everyday-ai.git
   cd everyday-ai

2. Install frontend dependencies

   npm install

3. Install Python dependencies

   pip install -r requirements.txt

4. Set up environment variables

   Create a .env.local file in the root directory:

   # Cloud AI Model API Keys
   DEEPSEEK_API_KEY=your_deepseek_api_key_here
   GEMINI_API_KEY=your_gemini_api_key_here
   
   # Optional: Analytics
   CLOUDFLARE_WEB_ANALYTICS_TOKEN=your_cloudflare_analytics_token

5. Start the development servers

   # Run both frontend and backend simultaneously
   npm run dev
   
   # Or run them separately:
   # Terminal 1: Frontend
   npm run next-dev
   
   # Terminal 2: Backend
   npm run flask-dev

6. Open your browser

   Navigate to http://localhost:3000 to access the application. The Flask API will be running on port 5328.

Optional: Local AI Models Setup

For privacy-focused, offline AI processing (development only):

1. Install Ollama - See OLLAMA_SETUP.md for detailed instructions
2. Pull any Ollama model - Visit ollama.ai/models to choose models
3. Models will be automatically available in development mode

🤖 AI Model Options

• Cloud Models: API-based models like DeepSeek, Google Gemini, etc. - instant responses, requires API keys
• Local Models: Any Ollama model installed locally - offline processing, privacy-focused, development only
