Miknet is

  • a TCP C networking library.
  • more convenient than filling a sockaddr_in by hand.
  • easy to use.
  • thread safe; there are no globals.
  • a blocking model with custom blocking duration; an application using it could be single threaded.
  • IPV6 friendly! IPV4 and IPV6 are both supported.
  • relatively straightforward to debug with; there are lots of return values.

Miknet is not

  • fast enough for real-time games (see: TCP).
  • mature.
