🪶 Description

Blank New Tab is a browser extension for Edge/Chromium that replaces your New tab page with a blank one.

I wanted something that looks built-in and clean, unlike the bloated default in Edge.

📝 Notes

• Edge may disable Blank New Tab on install. Enable it in Manage Extensions page (edge://extensions).
• InPrivate/Incognito works after ticking "Allow in InPrivate/Incognito" in Extension Details. Chrome docs explicitly state that extensions can't override InPrivate/Incognito New tab page, so it's uncertain if this keeps working forever.
• New tab page title displays in browser's UI language (see available languages). Edge Add-ons listing states there's only 1 available language because extension's description is only in English.
• To install in a different Chromium-based browser:
  • Download the contents of this repo.
  • Enable Developer mode in your browser's Manage Extensions page.
  • Select "Load unpacked" and choose the src folder.
• New tab icon comes from Microsoft Fluent UI System Icons (MIT license).
