Chrome extension for mindful browsing: Slow down addictive websites to reduce impulsive scrolling and doomscrolling.
- Delay Addictive Sites — Add a delay (1–60 seconds) before pages load
- Custom Site List — Choose which domains to slow (e.g.,
instagram.com,twitter.com,reddit.com) - SPA-Friendly — Works on modern sites with client-side navigation
- Mindful Delay Screen — Animated countdown, progress bar, quotes, and emoji
- Enable / Disable Toggle — Quick on/off control from popup
- Local-Only Storage — No tracking, no analytics, no external servers
- Install and open the popup from the Chrome toolbar
- Toggle SlowScroll on
- Add sites you want slowed (one per line)
- Choose delay duration (1–60 seconds)
- Browse normally — delays trigger automatically
- Every navigation on a targeted site is delayed
- After the countdown, the destination loads as normal
- Works on links, search, profile navigation, and internal routing
- Chrome 88+ (Windows, macOS, Linux)
- Other Chromium browsers (Brave, Edge, Arc, etc.)
SlowScroll does not collect, store, or transmit personal data.
All settings are stored locally using Chrome’s storage APIs.
No analytics, tracking scripts, or network calls.

- SPA Reloads — Single-page apps reload fully during delays (intentional)
- Exact Domains — Domain matching is explicit; subdomains are handled automatically
- No Scroll Throttle (Yet) — Current version only slows navigation, not feed scrolling
