Climobike is a portable monitoring system for climatic conditions and air quality that adapts to many different type of bicycles. It is able to record georeferenced air quality (particulate and carbon monoxide), temperature and humidity data using a very versatile system.

Climate brings to bikers the protagonism of contributing to data generation and sharing while riding around the city. The data generated can be shared by WiFi or mobile data to the collaborative database of the project.
According to the Global Open Data Index website, access to data on air quality and climatic conditions still represents a major barrier in many country because they are outdated or under licenses that limit access or free use. In this sense, the project contributes to the increase of this data for the society in general and, in particular, for decision makers in public policies. From the information sampled by Climobike it will be possible to identify and compare in real-time different sites in the cities according to the air quality and weather condition.
The project sensitizes on issues related to environmental quality and mobility in large cities. It promotes citizen protagonism in the generation of information, attracts the interest of companies managing public bicicle system and increasing and participation of citizens in public policies for urban areas.
