address CVEs and memory access errors
This release of the catdoc programs addresses numerous vulnerabilities reported against various forks and distribution packages of catdoc over the years. To do so it has updated autoconf/automake tooling to make it easier to build with Address Sanitizer, and an automake test harness to check for memory errors. The steps to build it from source changed slightly, see
INSTALL. See NEWS for a more complete list of changes, or view the log of git commits.
incorporate patches and fixes from the 'net
vbwagner/catdoc has not had any updates since 2016. The Debian package has carried several patches that fix bugs. This release incorporates them, plus man page fixes and a build patch from Fedora. It also has minor cleanup to build xls2csv in 16-bit DOS. See NEWS for a more complete list of changes, or view the log of git commits.
