| React-based website for former employer. The Hookah Lounge did not have a web presence previously, so I built them one from the ground up. The Hookah Lounge is no longer in business, so this is a recreation of the site I made. | An offline glamour previewer and planner for Final Fantasy XIV. Offers real-time glamour previewing including new items and dye previews. Supports export to TeamCraft for creating crafting/gathering lists. Still in active development. | Demo site for a fictional woodworking business. I was aiming for a standard e-commerce feel, but with faster/real-time filtering. As a note, all product images were made by me in Cinema 4D. |
Hello again! Glad to see you've made it this far! If you're reading this, you're probably interested in who I am as a person as well as the stuff I'm doing, or at least zoned out enough that you're not averse to learning. I'm Shandon, a full-stack developer and multidisciplinary artist currently based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I've done work across web, desktop, mobile, and game development, and my biggest motivator is building tools that make complex or dull processes easier and/or more intuitive. Failing that, making boring tasks more visually interesting is always a plus (though I am by no means a designer).
I've been writing code in some form or fashion since 2001, starting early (as so many others have) with Neopets guild layouts. Since then, I've built everything from simple SPAs to complex desktop applications with realtime 3D rendering. I intentionally seek out projects that are complex or very detail-oriented, as they often present the most learning opportunities. That being said, I also don't shy away from simpler projects that give me the opportunity to stretch out a little, flex a bit, and get that quick dopamine hit of seeing something come together before my very eyes.
Beyond writing code, I have a ton of creative pursuits all vying for my attention (likely the result of a late ADHD diagnosis). I play around with:
- 3D Modeling (
Cinema 4D,Blender) - Landscape Design/Terrain Generation (
World Machine,Terragen,QGIS) - Photography (
Sony α6300,Lightroom Classic) - Music Production (
Cubase,Bass Guitar,Traktor Pro,Serato DJ) - Writing (
Pencil/Paper,Google Docs)
In short, if a hobby lets me build or create something new, I'm likely interested. I also have a small indoor garden (tomatoes, green onions) I'm experimenting with.
My current project focus is largely on Hydaelyn Clothiers, a glamour previewer and planner for Final Fantasy XIV. I have several features in the works (including animation support and .obj/.fbx export), as well as a significant code cleanup and optimization pass.
For visual/non-code projects, I'm always refining my Mega Bezel Overlay project, whether that's working on the 3D scene in Cinema 4D, or refining the CRT shader parameters in RetroArch.
That's gonna be it from me! Thanks for stopping by!
