Hello, before I leave I wanted to send the summer work made by @gabaxh, @Pake-TU, and me.
It includes the tests for the ESR and orchestrator, as well as the new Messenger system.
Before we could start the work I had to pull in the changes from your pump branch, which polluted this PR somewhat (I expect this will cause conflicts again).
