The Definitive Performance Mod v1.7.1
v1.7.1:
- All INIs (Except Steam Deck): Updated the sharpening and denoiser variables to better work with the new DLSS 4.5 (310.5.0)
- Remember:
- You can update to DLSS 4.5 using the Upscaler Updater inside the script, or via Nvidia App.
- You can adjust the sharpening by changing the value of the line r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=0.3 (Default is =1, but it's too much)
- Auto-install: Fixed some typos and changed the name of the [A] option to 'Upscaler Updater'.
- Monstrosity INI: Very minor update.
v1.7.0:
- All INIs: Changed the value of r.Shadow.RadiusThreshold to 0.04 (game's default on high preset). This should fix the white hair/beard for the remaning people.
- Performance and Potato INI: Now the overall lighting is much better on all regions except for The Manor. It's not my fault.
- Performance and Potato INI: Removed some redundant variables.
- Potato INI: Way less pop-in now.
- Auto-install: Now you can also update the FSR DLLs through the script.
- Auto-install: Added a "Reduce fog" option inside the Custom Vars menu because "Remove fog" causes issues for some people.
- Updated the description and mod files to mention FSR when needed.
Technical stuff:
- Auto-install:
- on TDPM v1.6.0+ you could, in theory, revert an INI back to it's defaults after applying any custom variable through the Custom Vars section by pressing [R]. This is actually working now.
- Improved some parts of the code, more specifically inside the ini_custom, install_custom_r and installini labels.
- TDPM v1.6.0+ if you choose an custom var and go back to the menu, the selected INI will not be highlighted. This is fixed now.
- Minor UI changes.

1.6.1:
For All INIs:
• Fixed the blurriness that came with the new update.
• Fixed the white hair bug that could happen for some people, finally.
Quality, Balanced, Performance and Potato INIs:
• Sharper and less noisy shadows.
• Adjusted the fog to the new update.
Performance and Potato INIs:
• Remove the forced lower resolution. Now you can play using these INIs in native 1080p and beyond.
Performance INI:
• Increased the AO quality from 1 to 2. This fixes the shimerring on the grass but you may notice a 1~2 FPS loss.
• Fixed the lighting in the manor!
Potato INI:
• Adjusted the lighting for the new update.
• Almost fixed the lighting in the manor. It looks way better now.
Auto Install:
• Updated the INI Fixes section. Only 1 'relevant' fix available now.
• Updated the description of Potato ini.
1.6.0:
What changed in the Auto-Install script:
• DLSS + XESS Updater: Now it'll automatically locate the game's folder. Works only for the steam version for now.
• Added an new option to add or remove fixes automatically. No more manual editing.
• Added an new option to add (some) custom variables, mostly for fun.
• INI descriptions were updated.
• The code is much more organized now.
• Various small visual fixes for the script.
• The main menu will now show you the active INI.
• Added an visual easter egg fo those who choose to donate (Thank you!).
• Added a lot of new comments inside the code, so you can know exactly what the new lines are doing.
What changed in the INI files:
• Potato: Fixed the enviroment being too dark in some places. (Remember that "The Manor" is always very bright without lumen)
• Potato: The max resolution is now 480p for even more performance. You can customize this by changing the line r.ScreenPercentage.MaxResolution=480
• Performance: Found a permanent fix for the shimmer on the grass. Use the "INI Fixes" option.

1.5.4:
• The new DLSS v310.4.0 (2025-08-26) was tested and is available through the Auto Install script.
• [Auto Install] - Exit option (x) wasn't working in some cases (lol).
1.5.3:
• The new XESS v2.1.0 (2025-07-31) was tested and is available through the Auto Install script.
• The newly added DLL "nvngx_dlssd.dll" will also be updated when using the DLSS + XESS updater within the auto install script.
• This mod has been tested and is fully compatible with the v1.4.0 version of the game.

• Fixed all possible lighting issues when using Balanced and Performance Ini.

v1.4.1:

v1.4.0:
• New Steam Deck INI - BETA - More details in the mod description.
• Improved performance for Lossless, Quality, Balanced and Performance.
• Improved lighting and shadows for Balanced.
• Lumen is now much more stable in Balanced.
• Reduced fog a bit in Quality and Balanced.
• Better shadows and MUCH better lighting for the Performance ini.
• Fixed lighting issues in Flying Waters when using Balanced and Performance. Thanks to Rupsih!
• Increased view distance for all INIs! This means even less pop-ins for everyone. (Delete r.ViewDistanceScale=1 for more performance (the last line))
• Installing Performance or Potato via auto-install will lock the cache file (Sandfall_PCD3D_SM6.upipelinecache).
This fixes some issues related to these 2 inis. (There is an option to revert this if needed)
• Potato is finally playable!

- Better performance for those using TSR with Anti Aliasing set to Epic (For all INIs)
- Improved shadows and more stable ambient occlusion when using Performance Ini (+1 fps in some areas.)

- Lossless ini now looks even more like Vanilla graphics!
- Shadows have been improved on all presets!
- In-game lighting will no longer affect the UI when using the Performance ini. Thanks to Yuhgmapacho!

- Performance ini will no longer make the Gustav's hair "radioactive".
- The way lighting is handled has been changed. - This should fix the remaining lighting issues.

Your feedback is much appreciated, but remember that the game itself has a lot of visual bugs. This mod fixes most of them, but if you encounter any issues, check if this also happens when using the original settings.

- I also cleaned up all files, removing some 'redundant' variables.
