Hello 👋, I'm Matt Romanes!

A Software Engineer with a passion for turning complex data into robust, production-ready applications.

  • 🔭 I was the lead developer of Pulse, a now open-source (AGPL-3.0) infrastructure digital twin. I built the platform from a conceptual blueprint to its initial public release, writing the vast majority of the Swift codebase.

  • 🤖 My work on Pulse included building a custom RAG system using on-device LLMs (MLX) to transform siloed infrastructure data into actionable intelligence, all while ensuring complete data sovereignty.

  • 🌱 I'm currently deepening my expertise in data analysis and visualisation. My first project in this space is an analysis of Melbourne's public transport network, which you can find here: Melbourne Public Transport Analysis.

  • 🍎 During my work on Pulse, I received direct technical feedback from Apple's SwiftUI and MLX engineering teams on the implementation's complexity during WWDC 25 remote labs.
