Sorry, I now see you deliberately removed this a few months ago. Another option is to add it to _run() instead.

I was already to reply, I have a switch called "ext" - lousy name for denoting the script is run from the command line - we could use this in the constructor to call collect if "ext". Thanks for the patch (the other one), I'll integrate them shortly.
