MossBack is a wildlife import/export compliance platform built for permit managers, brokers, and licensed wildlife dealers who need to stay on top of USDA APHIS, FWS, and CITES paperwork without losing their minds.
MossBack ingests shipment data, validates it against current regulatory schemas, and auto-generates the correct federal forms. It's not glamorous work but someone has to do it and apparently that someone is us.
Now with 14 supported integrations (up from 11 — finally added the three everyone kept asking about, sorry it took so long).
This was a long time coming. MossBack can now auto-populate and export USDA APHIS Form 2-061 (Live Animal Import/Export Health Certificate) directly from your shipment queue. No more copy-pasting between systems at 11pm before a morning flight.
- Pulls veterinary attestation fields from your linked vet profile
- Validates species codes against current APHIS approved list (updated Q1 2026)
- One-click PDF export or direct e-submission if your APHIS account is linked
Triggered via the shipment detail view or via API:
POST /api/v2/shipments/{id}/export/aphis-2061
See docs/forms/aphis-2061.md for full field mapping reference.
The mobile client now operates fully offline-first. Permit data, species lookups, and pending form drafts are cached locally and sync when connectivity is restored. Especially useful for port inspectors and field agents who are constantly in dead zones.
- Conflict resolution uses last-write-wins per field (not per document — learned that the hard way)
- Sync state visible in the mobile status bar
- Works on iOS 16+ and Android 12+
- Known issue: large attachment syncs (>50MB) can stall on Android — MOSS-589, targeting 2.7.2
Sync is enabled by default. To disable:

MossBack's rule evaluation core is certified under the FWS Compliance Engine Program. This means:
- Species restriction checks are validated against FWS-maintained rule sets
- Audit logs meet FWS record-keeping requirements (50 CFR 14.93)
- Certification renewed annually; current cert valid through December 2026
Badge in the header links to the certification registry. If it ever goes red, ping @compliance-ops immediately, do not wait.
