Thank you for your feedback, it is much appreciated.

Project hamster and its various sub-components is currently undergoing some major changes. We prepare the introduction of a rewritten codebase for most of the underlying functionality. A direct consequence of this is that it is unlikely that any open/new bugs within the current/old codebase will be fixed (unless someone steps up and offers to do so) as most resources currently available will be invested in making the rewrite prime time ready.

If you are still interested in working on the new codebase (repositories: hamster-lib/cli/gtk/dbus) we would be most thrilled. Please feel free to either open a new issue with the relevant repository and/or join the discussion on the mailinglist.
For more context please see our website.

Thanks for your interest and support! Eric.

If @andresclari does not object, this PR could probably be closed. It refers to an essentially dead branch of the repo as there has been no activity or expression of interest by others in five years.

The fact that there was no activity on this PR could be due to the very nice yet clear 2016 message.
Although it is true that this PR would have to be entirely rewritten for the current code base,
the use case seems valid to me
(have hamster started, accessible in the taskbar or the system tray, but window hidden).
We'll probably come back to that after fixing #242.

Keeping these old PR open is also a fair indication that priority is given to bug fixing
rather than to new features, for the time being.

@andresclari I hope this make sense, and we are not sounding too dismissive.
Thanks a lot for contributing !
Chances are that several people already used your proposition.

Well, since all the code changes that happened to this project years ago, I don't think this pull request is valid anymore, the code could be used as reference on a new issue, if this functionality is still missing.
But since merging this PR doesn't make sense anymore, so I'm ok with closing it. That said, proceed as you see best.

There will never be any CLA on this code. Please disregard the wrong checks (#589).
