Looping `tr '\n' ' '` would break if variables contain whitespace

Technically speaking, #182 fixes the actual issue that originates from incorrectly treating all whitespaces equally, but I also wanted to add logic for not unnecessarily updating the environment variable's value to the same value. This is a totally optional PR. |
