Apple ][ Speech Card using the GI SP0256A-AL2 Speech Processor Chip

Description

This is a speech card that I designed and built for the Apple ][ computer in 1988. It uses the GI SP0256A-AL2 Speech Processor chip that was sold in RadioShack stores. I used this Apple ][ card to develop the speech for a talking doorbell project, that I designed and built using the same speech chip, and the Intel i8741 microcontroller. This talking doorbell was never made into a product, but that is still something I might do in the future... who knows lol.

I hope the information here preserves the memories of the alien sounding speech technology that was available to hobbyists at RadioShack stores.

I retain all rights to the Talking Doorbell, otherwise have fun. If you want to make some cool alien talking doorbells to sell, please contact me. If you wish to make and sell copies of the sound card for profit, please contact me. Otherwise, please enjoy and have fun!
