Summary

  • The typeset skill universally recommended fluid clamp() sizing, but no major app design system (Material, Polaris, Primer, Carbon) uses fluid type in product UI
  • Now recommends fixed rem scales for app UIs/dashboards and reserves fluid type for marketing/content page headings only
  • Updated both the skill instructions and the typography reference file

Context

Feedback from a user on X questioning whether fluid typescales are appropriate for apps. Research confirmed: IBM Carbon is the most explicit, calling fixed type "a must" for product interfaces. Body text should also be fixed even on marketing pages.

Test plan

  • Review updated guidance in source/skills/typeset/SKILL.md
  • Review updated reference in source/skills/frontend-design/reference/typography.md
  • Verify built dist files include the changes

The typeset skill universally recommended fluid sizing via clamp(),
but no major app design system (Material, Polaris, Primer, Carbon)
uses fluid type in product UI. Now recommends fixed rem scales for
app UIs and reserves fluid type for marketing/content page headings.
