Generating HTML with the Pandoc Plugin in Janeway

These steps are applicable when an article is in the Typesetting Stage.
Janeway includes a Pandoc plugin that allows you to convert prepared Word documents into HTML or PDF. Follow these steps to prepare and process your manuscript.

1. Prepare Your Document

Before uploading, ensure your Word document contains only the body of the article.
Remove any cover sheets or additional front matter.

2. Open Document Management

From the article’s Actions menu, click Document Management.

3. Upload the Manuscript File

Click Upload File and choose Manuscript File as the file type.
Browse for your prepared Word document and upload it.

4. Confirm the File in the Typesetting Screen

Your uploaded file will appear in the list of Files for Typesetting.
Locate your newly uploaded manuscript and click the Options link.

5. Generate the HTML

In the Generate typeset file dialog, scroll to the Pandoc (Plugin) section.
Click Generate HTML to produce the web-ready version of your manuscript.#

✅ That’s it! Your file will now be converted into HTML (or optionally, a stamped/unstamped PDF) using Pandoc.

Quick Checklist

  • Article is in Typesetting Stage
  • Word document contains only the article body (no cover sheet)
  • Go to Document ManagementUpload File → select Manuscript File
  • Confirm file appears in Files for Typesetting
  • Click OptionsGenerate HTML under Pandoc (Plugin)
