Project Proposal DataDictionary
NOTE: This template can be downloaded here and edited with any text editor. Please keep the wiki syntax. ##Proposal The DataDictionary project is a proposed open source project under the openETCS Container Project.
This proposal is in the Project Proposal Phase (as defined in the openETCS Development Process) and is written to declare its intent and scope. We solicit additional participation and input from the openETCS community. Please send all feedback to this mailing list proposal@openetcs.com.
The openETCS data dictionary is a central point of implementation of openETCS. It has strong relations to WP2 (Definition of ETCS Requiremenmts), WP3 (Implementation of a system), WP4 (use of the data dictionary in Validation and Verification) and WP7 (there must be a toolchain sequence defined to process the data dictionary). Since this work is linked to several items I propose to define this task as an openETCS project.
The data dictionary repository shall home all information relevant for this task, including process, templates, temporary input files, the dictionary as a result, the databases needed by tools.
Main structures in the dictionary are:
- Templates
- Process Definition
- Issues relevant to document decisions
- The Input files for the dictionary comming out of the SRS Analysis
- The resuling data dictionary database processed by a tool
- xml input files generated from standards (SS26, section 7 and 8)
- SysML files generated from standards (SS26, section 7 and 8)
Templates and input files from SRS-Analysis
The content is part of the SRS-Anaylsis Result.

The project will be started as a part of the SRS-Taskforce. It will have a major milestone at end of system analysis and at end of validation of the data dictionary
