Description

This PR:

  • Adds a GHA workflow to install and build the package
  • Adds a GHA step to build docs and validate the same
  • Adds a .gitignore to ignore build and auto-generated files.

This PR has been validated locally using act, a tool to run GHA workflows locally using Docker containers.
