what does this mean? it means there are SO MANY THINGS to have on my computer at all times. i just got into this stuff, so i don't even know what all of this does, but "to run [x] i need [ y, z, and also q and maybe c and maybe u, oh and w is also good too]" sure happens a lot, so.
i also want to buy a new pc sometime soon, and to put a linux build on my old laptop, so this will be a nice reference for that stuff. largely i've been finding it fun to just play around with other people's tools (i have not used any of these to make my own things lmao) and i feel like every time i do i'm downloading something new. so.
so yes mostly this is a reference for me, however if you have recs please feel free to throw them in my direction by way of PR or w/e
- git bash -- would quite literally not be here without this
- python
- node js
- go
- ruby
- mysql
- php
- react
- rust + cargo
-
gcc -- honestly i don't think i did this right lol
-
tdmgcc -- since i still haven't been able to build the thing i dled these for i think it's a ME problem y'know
-
ffmpeg -- i think anything to do with media playback won't do anything without this. however, i fail every time i try it. no idea why. i'm tired. i'm giving it a couple of days before i try it again.
-
gstreamer -- this did work though. of course.
-
docker -- genuinely no idea what this does and at this point i'm too afraid to ask
to add probably: sqlite whatever bootstrap is
