This adds an [Eldev](https://doublep.github.io/eldev/) build and a [Nix](https://nixos.org/manual/nix/stable/) flake around it.
The Nix checks do not yet succeed, but this makes it possible to create the Emacs package.
This is an attempt to be as minimal as possible in the edits, but there is certainly room for discussion. E.g.,. creation & rephrasing of various docstrings, renaming of symbols, etc.

Basically, i686-linux – a 32-bit platform
This also causes us to upgrade to Nixpkgs 24.05.
Eliminates a warning.

This adds an Eldev build and a Nix flake around it. It also modifies the code as needed to satisfy the packager and linters.
This is preliminary work for all the currently-open issues.
