great mod!
i've updated it for 1.8, and it is functioning pretty well for me. the .gitignore changes are unnecessary, ofc, but it is nice to have intellij idea project files excluded. wasn't sure how you were handling the versioning, so it is hardcoded in my repo. the important bits are the rest of it, which for the most part involved refactoring API names and updating to the new package namespace for forge.
