LinuxBoot with Slim Bootloader

Overview

LinuxBoot is a firmware for modern servers that replaces specific firmware functionality with a Linux kernel and runtime. It can work with many different bootloaders such as coreboot, u-boot, UEFI and Slim Bootloader. This repo demonstrates how to enable LinuxBoot on Slim Bootloader with QEMU platform. The similar steps can be applied on ohter real hardware platforms supported by Slim Bootloader.

Build

  • Prepare basic environment for u-root. Please refer to u-root for GO language development environment setup.

  • Prepare basic environment for Slim Bootloader. Please refer to Slim Bootloader for details.

  • Clone this repo and then run build command:

    make all
    
  • Run LinuxBoot on QEMU:

    make run
