I'm also using same MacVim, 7.3.353, on cli. But I've not encountered this bug.

Before adding the line, last pep8 violation on a line is always displayed even cursor is moving to other lines, until hit to next a violation.
That's why of my case.

When I have a pep8 violation everything works as expected. This error only occurs when saving a file that does not have a pep8 violation.

Would you check with only autocmd BufWritePost for vim-pep8 by un-assign other BufWritePost autocmds?
Because, as you know, some plugins set their custom event handler for the event.

For me with only the event handler, no error occurs.

I'm using the latest Janus. I've disabled all other plugins and still get the error. I don't see any other BufWritePost autocmds... There's an issue open on the Janus project.
