Clean Plate Innovations is a Pittsburgh-based startup using smart cameras and machine learning to help institutions reduce post-consumer food waste in large-scale dining environments. They took first place in the Duquesne New Venture Challenge out of the business school and were the first Duquesne team (of Alums and students) to do so.
They seek a research-oriented undergraduate or graduate student (but preferably undergraduate) with a strong interest in sustainability and food systems for a Sustainability Innovation Analyst. This individual would conduct applied research on food waste causes, measurement strategies, and environmental impact and work with our cross-functional team to translate those findings into meaningful business and product insights.
The qualifications they seek is a the student that is genuinely interested in food waste as a problem and that they have at least some experience (at least robust classroom experience) in writing and conducting academic level research. They specifically highly recommend this opportunity to talented undergrads that are looking to get a leg up by getting an early internship that is Sustainability focused.
