MCP Server Instructions — Expanded

Expanded the SERVER_INSTRUCTIONS from ~650 words (9 sections) to ~950 words (13 sections), covering cross-tool patterns that were previously undocumented and caused wasted round-trips or silent errors.

New Sections

  • Track Indexing — indices shift after create/delete, return track numbering, track_type parameter semantics ("track"/"return"/"master"), master-has-no-pan gotcha
  • Device Parameters — case-sensitive names, batch set 3-5x faster, silent clamping, VST/AU 32-param limit, hidden param indexing (M4L)
  • Mixer — set_mixer unification, volume 0.85 ≈ 0 dB, pan range, Split Stereo workflow, routing display-name dependency
  • Creative Tools — each tool takes its own scale_name/root params, GM drum layout (kick=36, snare=38, hihat=42), quantize_to_scale for post-hoc correction
  • Undo & Safety — end_undo_step grouping, non-idempotent commands, partial failure in compound tools, persistence semantics

Expanded Sections

  • Compound Tools — added get_full_session_state, save_effect_chain/load_effect_chain with parameter-restore caveat
  • Clips & Notes — session vs arrangement clip distinction, add_notes_extended probability/velocity_deviation formats, time reference (clip-relative vs song-absolute), Live version gates
  • Automation — clip envelope vs arrangement timeline distinction, "use few points" guidance, create_automation_curve with cycles-per-clip-length, create_step_automation
  • M4L Bridge — note surgery workflow, snapshot morphing (quantized snap at 0.5), property observation lifecycle, audio analysis track_index semantics (-1/-2/N), AB compare

Removed / Merged

  • Workflow Sequencing section dissolved — content merged into Compound Tools, Clips & Notes, and other domain-specific sections for better locality
  • Snapshots section merged into M4L Bridge (snapshots require M4L)

Files

  • Modified: MCP_Server/instructions.py — SERVER_INSTRUCTIONS constant rewritten (~950 words, 13 sections, model-agnostic)

Tool count: 322 core + 19 optional (ElevenLabs) = 341 total (unchanged)
