index.jsis the main file that handles server connections and API routes. -
frontend/
Contains frontend-related files for the user interface. -
database/
Contains .sql file used for the application's database. This includes test data and configuration files for setting up the database environment. -
document/
Contains project documentation such as requirements and test cases to assist with development and ensure project consistency.
Unzip the file
Navigate to the backend folder and run:
npm install
Navigate to the frontend folder and run:
npm install
Database file is located under database folder.
In command line, type:
mysql -u <YOUR USER NAME> -p < <directory of the .sql file provided>
If passwords not match, permission issue might occur. In this case, please fix the PASSWORD in .env file, located under backend folder.
To start the backend server, run the following command inside the backend folder:
node index.js
To start the fronted development server, run the following command inside the frontend folder:
npm run dev
To simplify testing and ensure consistent behavior across different user positions, the following test accounts have been pre-configured in the database:
Position: Chief Executive Manager
- Username:
chief_test - Password:
1111
Position: Executive Manager
- Username:
exec_test - Password:
1111
Position: Member
- Username:
mem_test - Password:
1111
Purpose
These accounts are set up to allow testing of position-based permissions and functionality. Each positions has different levels of access and responses on the website:
- Chief Executive Manager: Full administrative privileges, including managing executives and high-level configurations.
- Executive Manager: Moderate permissions, such as managing members and accessing executive-level features.
- Member: Basic permissions, mostly limited to viewing content without administrative controls.
By using these accounts, you can test various scenarios and features without needing to manually create user accounts.
Ensure you have Node.js and npm installed on your system. The backend server runs on http://localhost:8080 by default. The frontend development server runs on http://localhost:5173.
