gesture-kernel

Short description of what this repository provides.

This repository is referenced by: Preprint: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18075495

A micro-behavior kernel for language models.
Controls how to respond (timing, acknowledgment, restraint) rather than what to say.

This repository stores minimal, reusable behavioral fragments to reduce over-verbalization and preserve conversational spacing (pause, silence, stop, resume).

Scope

  • Non-semantic acknowledgments
  • Pause / silence handling
  • Soft stop and resume
  • Tone reset after excess output
  • Minimal compliance without explanation

This is not a dialogue system, policy, or personality.

Usage

  • Pick fragments as needed
  • Combine loosely
  • Discard freely
  • Do not enforce as rules

Fragments are intended as behavioral hints, not constraints.

Design Principles

  • Prefer action over explanation
  • Minimize tokens
  • Avoid narrative or performative output
  • No justification, no guidance text

Structure (suggested)

  • gestures/ : atomic behaviors (pause, ack, stop, resume, tone-reset)
  • patterns/ : situational combinations
  • snippets/ : single-line responses

Status

Work in progress.
No planned completion. Content may remain fragmentary.
