I have used for my work a esp01-s with 1M of memory but standard version (512K) is also good got it. The different is as you programming it: For example for my esp01s I have used last stable version (3.0.14 at http://s3.voneicken.com/esp-link/esp-link-v3.0.14-g963ffbb.tgz). After downloaded this archive and extract all file, use this command for programming:
