I thought that listing which volume type the flavour is using may be good during install.

I'm going to argue against this, but I'm willing to be convinced otherwise.

The "flavors" are intended to be highly opinionated configurations designed to meet a workload need. From the user standpoint, I should be made to feel confident that the end result of my deployment will match my need, and I shouldn't need to know the volume type for that. In fact, I would argue that showing this information could lead to more questions and less confidence, at least for a non-savvy user (ostensibly out target users).

Up to you. As a gluster novice I find it useful to make sure I did chose the right one.
