That's weird, in my Ubuntu 12.04 installation, it does need flipping. What version of Matplotlib are you using? Thanks for looking into this! |

Hi, thanks for replying! matplotlib is 1.4.2., that's the latest in debian stable and testing (package version 1.4.2-3.1). it is a weird behaviour indeed. Maybe Ubuntu 12.04 has an older version of matplotlib? |

In Linux, numpy loads the image with the correct side up,
so there's no need to flip it up.
