XeLaTeX is used for typesetting. To compile to pdf, run xelatex vita.tex.
I use Garamond No. 8 as my main font. Some other options, suggested by the original author, are **Minion** and **Myriad** by Adobe.
The original template has been pretty widely forked. I’d recommend checking out what others have done for further inspiration.
