Tangential Condition

Dark star hero

License: CC BY-NC-ND 4.0

This repository holds a living narrative.

Not a draft moving toward completion, and not a story waiting to be wrapped up. Tangential Condition is designed to remain open—capable of extending, folding back on itself, or growing new surfaces without ever arriving at a final state.

What exists here is not progress toward an ending, but a record of motion.

The text appears as fragments: scenes, observations, and pressure points. Each piece stands on its own while quietly aligning with others across time and distance. Some connections surface immediately. Others only emerge after rereading, comparison, or long gaps between encounters.

There is no definitive order. There is no final version. Closure is neither promised nor required.

The narrative can evolve indefinitely—branch, fracture, recombine—so long as there is something left to observe. In practice, it pauses. In principle, it does not end.

Gaps are deliberate. Edges are left exposed. Certain threads are allowed to drift without resolution, not as omissions, but as part of the structure itself.

This repository reflects the visible state of that structure at a given moment. Other mechanisms may shape it elsewhere, but what appears here is the surface: the prose as it stands, readable without mediation, subject to change without warning.

Begin anywhere. Return when something shifts. If meaning forms, it does so at an angle.

That is the condition.

Repository Navigation

  • Start with reading-orders/ if you want a guided path.
  • The current recommended guided path is reading-orders/release-order.md.
  • Browse arcs/ if you want to read by narrative thread, including sections that may not yet be part of the default release path.
  • Browse editions/ for assembled, curated cuts of the work.

Reading

  • Treat each fragment as self-sufficient; reordering is expected.
  • Revisit over time; connections surface slowly.

Contributions

  • This is not an open collaboration space.
  • Issues/PRs limited to corrections: continuity slips, typos, grammar.
  • Use Discussions for talking through the narrative or community engagement.
  • New scenes or ideas come through other systems, not here.
